What is the secret behind the 30-minute, or 45-minute changes on the participants’ teeth on “Makeover” shows?

As today’s technology advances further, and as is the case for every other field, offering fast solutions to needs or problems is becoming the focus of dentistry. Thus, many quick fixes in cosmetic dentistry have been developed. These techniques have rooted from the increasing cosmetic needs of people, who wish to spend less and less time to tend to such cosmetic needs.

Having white teeth has gradually become a passion. In this context, both household bleaching and office-type bleaching offer 2 to 8 shades of bleaching, along with special sources of light and dental gels applied onto teeth in as short as 45 minutes. De-staining and bleaching a person’s teeth create a better, younger and fresher appearance.

The technique Makeover shows rely on the most is dental bleaching, as whiter teeth directly reflect on a person’s face, giving them a younger look and this greatly contributes to the changes on their face. Gums are “game-changing” for smiles, as well. Teeth should show right under lips when smiling, not gums. Though, for some people too much of their gum tissue is shown. For others, gum levels are irregular. While a tooth shows more of the gum tissue, another tooth may show less.

Even when a person has straight teeth, irregular gum levels create asymmetry, which is an undesired effect. “AN ASYMMETRIC APPEARANCE CREATES A NEGATIVE IMPRESSION.” Even when caused by irregular gum levels, dental asymmetry attracts attention quickly. Besides, for people with good-looking eyebrows, a nose that fits their face perfectly; if their gums show too much and their teeth do not look regular, it is unlikely that they will receive compliments about their eyes; until the irregularity of their gums is alleviated and their true beauty is revealed. Though, this is the case for merely irregular gum levels.

As a result of alleviating the irregularities AT THE TIPS OF TEETH, closing the gaps between teeth and sticking a material, named composite, onto teeth following the development of dental adhesives and adhesion techniques; creating spaced teeth leads to a childish appearance while closed-up gaps create a more feminine, more womanly visage. While the broken and irregular tooth tips affect a person’s smile greatly, 10-minute fixes quickly create a much better appearance.

The most prominent sign of facial aging is collapsed lips, due to abraded tooth enamel with teeth losing their ability to support the lips, thus rendering teeth invisible in a smile. Repairing tooth enamel fixes the lips, as well. More transparent, better-looking enamel creates a younger appearance.

Teeth are the most definitive organs. The meaning of a face defines age and character. Hence, teeth are the most important and indispensable elements subjected to change in shows that promise a “magic makeover”.
